Please be proactive in protecting your personal and financial information. There is currently a widespread IRS-related scam targeting taxpayers.
Fraudulent letters are being mailed that appear to be official IRS correspondence. These letters may reference Form CP53E, which is a legitimate notice used when the IRS is unable to process a direct deposit refund. The scam version is designed to look highly convincing and may even include a QR code.
Do not scan the QR code or follow any links provided in the letter.
Instead, if you believe you may be affected or are expecting a refund, go directly to the official IRS website by visiting IRS.gov/account
From there, you can securely set up or access your account and manage your refund.
Keep in mind:
If you receive a suspicious notice or have questions, please contact our office before taking any action.
